What Is Driver’s Education?
Driver’s education in Georgia is a structured program designed to teach new drivers—especially teens—how to safely operate a vehicle and understand state traffic laws. It combines classroom learning with real driving experience to prepare students for getting their license.
Who Needs Driver’s Education?
Driver’s education is mainly for:
Teens ages 15–17
Anyone under 18 applying for a license under Georgia’s Joshua’s Law
Program Requirements
To complete driver’s education in Georgia, students typically must complete:
30 hours of classroom instruction
6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a certified instructor
40 hours of supervised driving practice with a parent or guardian Includes 6 hours of night driving

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
To ensure every student has a spot, we reserve a limited number of seats for each class.
Reschedule Fee: $50
Applies to cancellations made less than one week before your classroom or behind-the-wheel session.
We recommend planning ahead to secure your preferred schedule and avoid extra fees.
Important Scholarship Information
If you have applied for a GDEC scholarship, please read carefully:
Do not pay or register for a class until your scholarship status is finalized.
Refunds will not be issued if you pay for a class and later receive a scholarship code.
Wait for a final decision on your scholarship before submitting registration or payment.
Scholarship codes must be received at least one week before the start of your scheduled class.
If you receive a code less than one week before your class, you must select a class that begins more than one week away.
Following these guidelines ensures your scholarship is applied correctly and prevents payment issues.

Click the button to the side to be directed to the official Grant Scholarship Page. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will fill out the name, email and phone number linked to the student. Once you submit the New Account request, you will receive an email with details of your user ID and password. After receiving the login information, under the ALREADY REGISTERED USER? section please select the “CLICK HERE TO LOGIN” button. After clicking, a new page will appear to login to the application. To login, enter the user id and password you received in the email.
Step 2
If approved, you will fill out a DRIVER’S EDUCATION registration form on our website. After you have completed the registration form, it will bring you to a payment screen, since you have a scholarship, you can just click out of the tab. Once we receive the registration, we will then send you an email requesting the students permit. After we have received the permit, the student will then be captured and ready for the class.
